The main University of Chicago campus is located in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Hyde Park is approximately six miles south from Chicago's downtown area.

Access to the High Energy Physics building is provided through the entrance to the Research Institutes at 5640 South Ellis Avenue. After entering the 5640 entrance, go up the stairs and through the double-doors. At the first hallway intersection, turn right and proceed to the end of the hallway. (You will be facing a picture of Enrico Fermi on the wall. Turn left and go down the stairs right next to the elevator (or take the elevator) to the basement. In the basement, go left down the hallway and through two gray double-doors. At the double-doors labelled "Astronomy and Astrophysics Center", take the hallway to the right and proceed until the last cross hallway. Go left though red double-doors. You are now in the basement of the HEP building. Proceed until the hallway ends to be at the HEP elevator. All HEP offices are located on the second or third floor.

Take the blue line elevated train (el) from O'Hare to the Jackson station. Change to the Red Line el in the direction of 95th Street. Get off at Garfield. After exiting the station, cross the street and take the #55 Garfield bus. The bus stop nearest to HEP is at 55th and Ellis which is 1 1/2 blocks north of the 5640 Ellis entrance to the Research Institutes.

From Midway Airport, take the #55 Garfield bus to 55th and Ellis. Then, walk 1 1/2 blocks south to the 5640 Ellis entrance to the Research Institutes.

Take the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) East to the Stevenson Expressway (I-55). Merge onto I-55 N/Stevenson Expy. (North). Stay in the right lane and take the Southbound exit to LAKE SHORE DRIVE/US-41 South. Take that to the 53rd Street Ramp. Follow 53rd to Woodlawn Ave. Make left on Woodlawn. Take Woodlawn to 55th Street. Make a right on to 55th Street and go to Ellis Ave. (Ellis is the first traffic signal you will see once you turn onto 55th). Make a left onto Ellis Ave. Park in the parking garage on the corner of 55th and Ellis.

Go north on Cicero Avenue to the Stevenson Expressway (I-55). Take I-55 North to Chicago and exit to Lake Shore Drive South. From Lake Shore Drive, Take that to the 53rd Street Ramp. Follow 53rd to Woodlawn Ave. Make left on Woodlawn. Take Woodlawn to 55th Street (Garfield Ave). Make a right on to 55th Street and go to Ellis Ave. (Ellis is the first traffic signal you will see once you turn onto 55th). Make a left onto Ellis Ave. Park in the parking garage on the corner of 55th and Ellis.

On the corner of 55th Street (Garfield Ave) and Ellis is a parking structure. Visitor parking is permitted and the cost is $4.00 per hour or $20.00 for the entire day. There is a machine that takes cash, Visa or Mastercard only. The HEP building is on the next block from the parking garage. Walk south (away from the stoplight) and cross both Ellis and 56th Streets. Enter the doors at address 5640 and follow the instructions above "Getting to the HEP Building".

There is a shuttle service to campus that runs every hour at O'Hare. Details can be found on their website. www.omegashuttle.com
